A phone that flips from full signal to Searching can turn a normal day into a missed-call problem fast. The status message only tells you that the iPhone cannot register on a usable cellular network. It does not identify the failed part.

What “Searching” Means on an iPhone

The iPhone must complete several operations before it can place calls, send standard SMS messages, or use cellular data.
